It’s been one of my to do list since I started building websites for clients. This time, my main target group for my wordpress website workshop was the BM churches in Kota Kinabalu but its also open to other organisation. My main objective will be to show them how to create their own website using WordPress as the Content Management System (CMS) easily. The offer was;
  1. a Hand-On Practical step by step Website Creation.
  2.  Wordpress Website Workshop Notes that they can refer to after the workshop.
  3. 3 Months FREE Hosting
  4. WoW2017 Facebook Support Group. Those who signed up for my WordPress Website Workshop will get to be in my SECRET Group.
In Sabah, the cost for one website is still very expensive. But, some people like me manage to go around that expensive price tag by learning to create website on their own. As for me, I started learning to create a website using WordPress by attending one 2 Day Seminar organized by a friend. I also bought eBooks, videos and lots of reading with the help of Google.  I might have spent thousands of Ringgit on learning WordPress throughout the years. I  thank God for PAN HQ for allowing me to use their training centre complete with tables, chairs, LCD Projector and even allows me to use their internet wifi connection. Its not free though, I paid a very affordable fee for the use of their training facilities. After deciding to do the workshop, I created a poster and started sharing it to my church related whatsapp group and also to my personal facebook profile. I shared the ePoster to all my church related whatsapp group on the 4th March 2017. Just 1 week of doing promotions to all my contacts and I managed to get about 9 participants. I was tempted to postpone the  WOW2017 but after thinking through it, I decided to proceed with the 11th March’s WordPress Website Workshop held at PAN HQ Training Centre located at Buhavan Square, Donggongon, Penampang. I felt that even though I did not reach my target which is to get a Maximum of 20 Pax to join my workshop, I just need to get started.  That could be the kickstart that I needed. I know that in order for me to have a successful workshop, I cannot do it alone so I asked 3 from my church youth to help me. Thank God for sis.Cacey Phillip , sis Rahel Alex and bro.Safrin Umak. A week before the workshop, I engaged bro Safrin to help me prepare for the lunch for 20pax. Sis. Cacey to help with the graphic design and sis.Rahel to help me with registration. They have done a very good job!  sis Rahel even helps doing follow up with the participants.  Thank God for them! Some of the churches that joined the WOW2017 were from;
  1. Maranatha Church (PAN Centre)
  2. Sabah Lighthouse baptist Church
  3. Grace Assembly of God Borneo, Kota Kinabalu
  4. BCCM Tuaran
Lunch was provided thanks to bro Safrin Umak from Grace Assembly of God Borneo. The lunch was superb! Chicken Curry with Vegetable. It was an experience that I felt very passionate about. I felt the joy that keeps bubbling in my heart throughout the whole session. Even after the Workshop, I still can feel it. I feel this kind of feeling every time I speak to the young people on topics that I am passionate about like Leadership. In the picture on the left, we were waiting for the other participants who promised to attend but did not so after 30 minutes of waiting, we started the workshop.  The participants were also very excited and was very good in following every steps shown to them. The older one was a bit struggling at first especially when comes to point and clicks because they are not used to this kind of workshop. But by the evening session, these older participants was ahead of the pack…due to some glitches with the hosting. They have to wait for me to settle the hosting issues.   Some of the participants had problems with their internet connection resulting in slower progress. Out of the 9 participants, 5 went back home with their own websites. I hope that what I have shared with them is enough for them to start tweaking and creating their church’s website. But if they encountered problems in their web creation, they can always ask for support from my SECRET FB Group. Some of the things that I learned was that I need to train someone to assist me when I am doing the teaching. Bro Dreyen (The bro in red shirt)  from BCCM Tuaran helped me to help the other participants. However, needless to say..I was flat tired after that one day Workshop but I thank God for such opportunities that allows me to help other churches creating their own websites.
